Tottenham latest, club a step closer to Pochettino? Striker to miss international tournament

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham seem to be one step closer to appointing a new Head Coach in the form of Mauricio Pochettino as the London Evening Standard reports that Southampton are resigned to losing their manager, and are looking for replacements for the Argentine.

Pochettino is expected to want £4m a year salary and the club will have to pay £3m in compensation to Southampton to bring members of his coaching staff with him to White Hart Lane.

One of the other favourites for the job in Frank De Boer has not been contacted by Spurs since the sacking of Tim Sherwood, according to his brother Ronald.

Ronald has been talking to TalkSport, telling the radio station that Frank is happy in charge of Ajax after the Dutch champions had claimed they had been contacted over the availability of their boss by Spurs a few months ago.

Ronald De Boer said: “Of course if clubs like Tottenham and other big teams come [in for him] he is willing to listen to them, but he doesn’t have to go.

“He is happy with Ajax. He can still achieve a lot with this young team. We will wait and see. There is no rush.”

Striker Harry Kane will miss the under-20 tournament with England in Toulon after picking up an injury in last night’s 3-1 win over Wales for England’s under-21s at the Liberty Stadium.

Kane was substituted ten minutes from time with an ankle injury and England’s under-21 boss Gareth Southgate has told the FA website that it’s a real shame for the 20-year-old.

“He’s warranted that opportunity and has had a super finish to the season with Tottenham so it’s disappointing for us and for him.”
