Barcelona fans have their eye on the next generation of their midfield - and they want Paul Pogba to lead it.
The former Manchester United FA Youth Cup winner, now of Juventus, has topped a poll in Spain which asked fans as to their ideal midfield signing this summer.
With Andres Iniesta and Xavi into their 30s, and Cesc Fabregas' future uncertain, the La Liga side are expected to begin work on pursuing transfer targets imminently now Luis Enrique has been confirmed as manager.
A poll run by Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has asked fans as to their preferences for a summer signing, and Pogba tops the list, beating off competition from Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos, a target for Manchester United.
The results saw Pogba receive a staggering 58 per cent of the vote, with Kroos in second with just 19 per cent.
Alternative suggestions Blaise Matuidi, Luiz Gustavo and Bruno Soriano amassed a combined nine per cent, with 15 per cent of supporters selecting 'other'.
A report in Marca earlier this week claimed Barcelona would allow Cesc Fabregas to leave if a big offer comes in, providing the club are able to sign Pogba, or a player of his ilk.
If they are unsuccessful in buying the Juventus man, they could yet turn to Kroos and scupper plans United have to sign the Bayern midfielder, who has just one year remaining on his contract. If that would lead to Van Gaal signing Cesc however it would soften the blow.
Pogba's agent Mino Raiola spoke on his future yesterday, fuelling speculation with PSG also interested by telling L'Equipe: "As I say every year, I have to be ready to do anything. If tomorrow there is an offer that would satisfy everyone and Paul believes it is something good for his career, why should we refuse it?"
