Arsenal morning news: Gunners face fight for Mandzukic, ex-boss on 'embarassing' attack

Mario Mandzukic Bayern

A round up of news stories this morning about Arsenal.

The Daily Mail claims Arsenal will face competition from Manchester United in the fight to sign Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich.

The Croatian is expected to leave the German champions due to Robert Lewandowski’s arrival at the Allianz Arena.

Arsenal have been linked with the forward for the best part of the last year.

Former Arsenal manager George Graham has called the attack of the current side an embarrassment.

Arsenal have been forced to rotate a combination of Olivier Giroud and Yaya Sanogo predominantly over the last year, which Graham believes isn’t good enough.

“Up front, it is embarrassing the lack of quality forwards they have got there. They have only had [Olivier] Giroud this season, whose form has been up and down. Although he has been a good signing, his form has not been good enough to [help Arsenal win the title],” he told talkSPORT.

Former Gunner Carlos Vela has revealed things would be different if Arsenal made a move to re-sign him..

Arsene Wenger is looking for extra attacking support and the Mexican believes he can do a job in the Arsenal attack.

“If I have to return to London, I will try to make things in a different way in order so that happened in the past won’t be repeated again,” said the forward.
