Yaya Sanogo was the only striker Arsenal signed last summer, and a return of no goals has not been ideal.
Yet the prospect cannot be faulted for effort, working hard during Saturday's FA Cup Final to try and force the scoreline in the Gunners' favour.
Sanogo can point to ending the season as an FA Cup winner as proof of his debut campaign being a relative success, particularly given he missed the first half through injury.
The French youth international had a message for supporters after their trophy triumph, posting on his Facebook page that throughout his season he tried his best:
Sanogo may not have scored but his effort during the semi-final and final at Wembley surely didn't go unnoticed by supporters, witnessing a player who clearly is not quite ready for such a stage, not allow the occasion to intimidate him.
The striker will find getting into the first team next season a lot tougher with the Gunners expected to spend big on a striker or two, but this whole experience will stand him in good stead.
A few goals in pre-season will do the young Frenchman the world of good, and Arsenal may just see him return next season looking like a new player.
