Wayne Rooney is annoyed that he has been followed by reporters to Portugal where he is on holiday with his family.
Wayne Rooney is England’s darling and has been touted for over a decade as the man who will lead the Three Lions to international glory.
The Manchester United striker has persistently failed to deliver on the big stage, but that has not dented his ambitions at all. The 28-year-old is still as determined now as he was when he was a teenager.
Which is why he has taken two fitness experts to Portugal while he is on holiday with his family to regain full fitness ahead of the World Cup in Brazil next month. Rooney missed the last three Premier League matches of the 2013-14 campaign for United because of a groin injury and has been working hard to recover while he is in the Iberian nation.
However, given how high profile Rooney is and how much the people want to know how he is getting on, he has been followed all the way to Portugal by members of the English press. This has made the former Everton forward very angry, and he has not minced his words while expressing what he feels of such an act on social networking site Twitter.
Disgusting that English press have flew out to Portugal to follow me while I'm with my children— Wayne Rooney (@WayneRooney) May 18, 2014
Rooney will be joined by the rest of the England squad in the Algarve on Monday. Manager Roy Hodgson and his players will have a five-day training camp in Vale de Lobo and will then head back to London for a friendly international against Peru on May 30.
