At the start of the season few people had heard of Domenico Berardi, but the 19-year-old's lethal scoring form for minnows Sassuolo has made him a household name.
Berardi is co-owned by Juventus but the Old Lady sent him out on loan to Sassuolo for the season to gain experience, as they do with many gifted young players.
And nobody could have expected Berardi to respond in such emphatic fashion, netting 16 times, including three devastating hat-tricks.
Berardi has been compared to Juventus great Alessandro Del Piero and has actually been more prolific than Alex was at his age, but his future is not clear.
Juventus have a wealth of striking options and probably won't bring him back in the summer, so he may stay on at Sassuolo - the tiny club he managed to keep in Serie A against the odds.
But the player's agent has given a strong hint that an offer from a Premier League giant would be welcome.
"This agreement looks likely depending on the other deals that take place for Juventus this summer.
"But the situation could change if there were a big offer from England."
This could be the best chance for a Premier League club to pick up a bargain before Berardi becomes vastly expensive.
There have been vague links with Manchester United but Arsenal are also a potential suitor and Berardi would seem like a good fit as the Gunners are desperate to add to their attacking options this summer.
The price tag at this stage is not clear but it is likely that an offer somewhere between £10m and £15m would have to be given due consideration.
It would be a gamble for a Premier League giant as Berardi only has one season of top-level experience but there's a lot to suggest his goals weren't a fluke and if he manages to repeat his efforts next term his value could double.
