FA Cup winner pays tribute to Schumacher

Podolski Boots

Arsenal's Lukas Podolski paid tribute to Michael Schumacher during Saturday's FA Cup final triumph with a pair of specially-made boots.

The German international unveiled the new design ahead the game on Twitter, with "Keep Fighting Michael" clearly displayed across the boots. Seven-time world champion Schumacher has been in a coma since suffering head injuries in a skiing accident last December.

Polish-born Podolski moved to Germany's North-Rhine Westphalia region as a child, the same area Schumacher grew up in. A keen race fan, he has since met Schumacher on several occasions and attended a number of Formula 1 grands prix, while Schumacher helped to fund Podolski's return to 1. FC Köln in 2009.

The final was not the first time Podolski has carried a tribute to Schumacher on his boots. The former Bayern Munich man also played with "Kampfe Michael #getwellsoon" during a game against Manchester United in February.
