Manchester City midfielder James Milner has been linked with a switch to Arsenal.

Arsenal have been linked with signing Manchester City's James Milner, but would it be a good move for the club?

The versatile midfielder would certainly offer Arsenal options in midfield, but just like at City he would not be an assured starter.

Milner began just 12 Premier League games this season, appearing 19 times from the substitute's bench.

Milner created 29 goalscoring chances for his teammates, making a key pass every 46 minutes, bettering Fernandinho and Yaya Toure.

Milner's talent nor work ethic is not in doubt. An England squad regular, the midfielder shone at a young age at Leeds United and especially at Aston Villa, convincing Manchester City to pay more than £20 million for his signature.

The Guardian claim Arsenal plan to bid £10 million for the midfielder, whose best season came in 2009/10 for Villa when he struck 12 goals.

Still only 28-years-old, the England under-21 cap record holder has plenty to offer, and could yet be converted by Arsene Wenger to help solve the Gunners' gap at defensive midfield.

Not all Arsenal fans are convinced however but some are all for the signing, here is a snapshot of how they reacted via Twitter:
