Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has kept up his excellent scoring record under Dutch coach Louis van Gaal by netting another fabulous goal against Ecuador.
The 30-year-old former Arsenal star has flourished under Van Gaal’s guidance for the national team, and his 11 goals in the World Cup qualifiers was a tournament high.
His goals – including a hat-trick against Hungary – meant that Van Persie became his country’s all-time leading goalscorer, and he doesn’t look like stopping there.
For United this season, despite his team’s struggles and his own injury problems, Van Persie still managed to find the net 12 times in 18 Premier League games and contributed greatly to the Manchester outfit's Champions League run.
His technique is wonderful, and he proved that again tonight with his equalising goal by controlling a long ball on his chest in the area before beating the goalkeeper with a powerful volley.
It was a goal which delighted the alleged soon-to-be United boss Van Gaal, and for any of the Red Devils’ supporters tuning in, it was certainly a nice reminder of what their star man can do when given excellent service in front of goal.
