A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United are reportedly in talks with David de Gea regarding a new £18million deal to keep him at Old Trafford for the long term.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been outstanding this season, and has grown into one of Europe’s finest stoppers after a shaky start following his move from Atletico Madrid.
And now the Daily Star Sunday claims United are prepared to increase De Gea’s wages from £52,000-a-week to £85,000-a-week.
The deal would also reportedly see the Spanish international add an additional two years to his current deal.
Given his importance to the side and his growing reputation, it would make perfect sense for United’s incoming manager to tie up this deal as soon as possible.
In other news, reported United target Edinson Cavani has reportedly ruled out a move.
The Paris Saint-Germain front-man has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, but the Uruguayan – who cost the French side a reported £55million when he moved from Napoli – has confirmed that he will remain in the capital next season according to reporter Jonathan Johnson.
Given the strikers currently at United’s disposal that may not be too much of a blow, with midfield and defence the areas the club need to strengthen.
