The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine spell at the Rams, scoring eight goals since his January loan move. That followed a stint at League One side MK Dons, where he scored 17 goals before the turn of the year.
Derby are now one match away from a return to the Premier League, and should they make it, it is being reported that Bamford is one of their prime targets.
He is just one of a large number of Chelsea players currently on loan at other clubs, and one of the biggest success stories along with the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Christian Atsu and Thorgan Hazard.
But it is unlikely he will get much game-time at Stamford Bridge in the near future, so a switch to Steve McClaren's men could be the best move for all parties.
That said, if Derby fail to make it into the Premier League, expect other top-flight clubs to come calling for a young man with considerable talent.
