Adel Taarabt's career has taken an unexpected twist over the last five months as he now appears to be wanted by Inter as well as AC Milan.
The Moroccan international was a surprise transfer in the January window when he moved from Queens Park Rangers to AC Milan on loan, ending a temporary spell at Fulham.
Many in England and Italy questioned Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani's decision to bring Taarabt to San Siro, but they have been left eating their words.
Taarabt has been excellent for Milan and a breath of fresh air for a Rossoneri side that have been struggling badly in Serie A.
Milan have made no secret of their desire to sign Taarabt permanently and have begun negotiations with QPR but they are believed to be looking to reduce the asking price to around £3m from closer to £6m.
But last night on Italian TV there was a shock revelation that Milan's city rivals Inter requested information on Taarabt during a visit from owner Erik Thohir and director Piero Ausilio to London this week.
It is suggested that Inter could usurp Milan by offering rising striking star Ishak Belfodil as part of the agreement.
QPR have been looking at 22-year-old marksman Belfodil for a while and nearly signed him on loan in January before he opted to go to Serie A strugglers Livorno instead.
However, a major obstacle to any Inter transfer would be Taarabt's affection for Milan. He has frequently stressed his desire to stay with the Rossoneri and to join their rivals would be seen as an act of treachery.
