Everquest Next Landmark comes to Steam early access

EVerquest Next Landmark

SoE’s sandbox creator MMO is looking to pick up more gamers on Steam.

Everquest Next Landmark lets players into a huge voxel-based world to create and destroy as they see fit. A precursor to the upcoming Everquest Next MMORPG Landmark is MMO world-building kit where SoE are inviting gamers to create their own content with a chance to make some money and see their creations appear in games.

Landmark’s player studio which has been rolling out across non US territories this month will give illustrious creators the chance to sell their work to players in other SoE games. Currently items can be submitted for Everquest, Everquest 2 and Planetside 2 fitting to 17 item templates including buildings, transport and weapons.

Currently in closed Beta SoE will be adding more features and support for item ports to more games and the chance to see your builds in the final Everquest Next which is currently likely to arrive for PC and PS4 sometime next year.

Beyond mining, building and exploring the current Landmark sandbox SoE will also be adding more recognisable RPG style features, avatars will get health bars and PvP combat will be added. Players will also later on be able to gain game achievements and get their work in a player-curated gallery of structures. SoE have also talked of bringing in a very ambitious Dungeon Mastering system allowing you to build quests for others to play.

Despite landmark being made entirely from destructible voxels it’s got lively, detailed, expressive graphics and an impressive depth of creative possibilities across a broad range of styles is being opened up to would-be creators, check out the screens below
