Did Ferguson bring Juventus Vidal bid?

Sir Alex Ferguson was at the Juventus Stadium to watch the Europa League final and there are reports that he delivered a well-timed bid for Arturo Vidal.

The Italian rumour mill went into overdrive when Sir Alex Ferguson was seen sitting next to Juventus boss Antonio Conte in the stands for the Europa League final.

Juventus had narrowly missed out on the final in their own stadium but Conte was still present and the Italian media were full of suggestions as to the subject of his conversations with Ferguson.

While some believe Conte was seeking advice about his personal future, which could lie away from Turin and possibly in the Premier League, a new theory has emerged about Ferguson's intentions.

Sportmediset reports that Ferguson came to Turin to deliver a bid of between £24m and £26m for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Chilean international has been a key man for the Old Lady and has won plaudits all over Europe and it has been regularly suggested that he could look elsewhere.

Many in the Italian media believe that Juventus could sell Vidal in order to make sure they keep hold of ex-Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba, who is also the subject of significant attention.

A gifted playmaker with some versatility, Vidal could be just the man needed at Old Trafford to provide a spark going forward.

The timing of the approach is good with coach Conte's future up in the air and the club feeling a sense that they will have to accept the departure of some assets to protect others.

Nonetheless, Juventus have seen Vidal blossom over the last three years since he joined from Bayer Leverkusen and won't let him go lightly.
