Tottenham want Napoli striker, could offload flop in deal

Tottenham have returned their attention to long-term target Goran Pandev and could loan out Erik Lamela in a deal with Napoli, it is reported.

Macedonian marksman Goran Pandev is expected to leave Napoli in the summer and Tottenham could be waiting in the wings.

The 30-year-old is under contract at the Stadio San Paolo until June 2015 but Napoli are shopping for a high-profile partner for Gonzalo Higuain this summer and Pandev may be ready to step aside.

Fiorentina are widely believed to have already made an offer of around £3m for Pandev, who has also worn the shirts of Inter and Lazio.

But Tottenham have been watching Pandev for some time and were linked with a move in January that never materialised.

Pandev is best known for his time at Lazio where he scored 48 goals in 159 outings and became a pivotal figure at a club known for fast transfer turnaround in recent years.

After a disappointing spell at Inter, Pandev has enjoyed something of a renaissance at Napoli and is Macedonia's all-time top scorer with 26.

Spurs and Napoli were in protracted talks over midfielder Étienne Capoue in the January transfer window and the two clubs may re-enter discussions in the next few weeks.

Reports in Italy suggest that Napoli are keen to bring Argentine forward Erik Lamela in on loan and Tottenham could suggest an exchange of loans.

Napoli are also known to be admirers of Brazilian midfielder Sandro whose future at White Hart Lane is unclear and he could be exchanged instead.
