John Terry’s new contract to stay at Chelsea has been wrapped up and the Daily Mail has now suggested that Jose Mourinho is keen to get deals secured for two more of his Chelsea veterans.
Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are both staring at the ends of their current Chelsea deals but the national paper suggests that the Portuguese coach believes they both still have something to offer at Stamford Bridge.
“Manager Jose Mourinho has made it clear he is keen to keep Terry, Lampard and Ashley Cole, who is also in the last six weeks of his deal,” writes Sami Mokbel.
Lampard has been one of Mourinho’s most reliable players throughout the course of his two spells at the club.
He injects that guaranteed level of experience into the midfield and offers quality both on and off the ball.
His stats in key areas in the Premier League last season may have been down compared to other players, but he still has the ability to pop up in great positions at key times to score goals.

A new deal for Cole is a little harder to believe considering every indication suggests he’ll leave the Blues when his contract expires in a few weeks.
Cole’s tears after Chelsea’s final home game of last season suggest that he’s been told his Chelsea days are numbered.
There are also numerous reports doing the rounds that Liverpool are getting themselves into a position where they can poach Cole as a free agent, which would be a terrific coup for Brendan Rodgers next season.
What this report seems to be based on as far as Cole is concerned, is how well he played when Mourinho needed him over the final few games of the season.
However, that doesn’t mean that Cesar Azpilicueta’s effectiveness at left-back this season should be forgotten about.
