Tottenham latest, midfield target may cost £16m, defender waiting on new boss before deciding future

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Tottenham may have to pay £16m if they want to land one of their reported targets Valon Behrami according to TalkSport.

The former West Ham United midfielder – who is currently at Serie A side Napoli – is also attracting interest from Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund according to the report.

Defender Jan Vertonghen is prepared to wait on who the next Spurs boss will be before deciding on his future according to the Daily Telegraph.

The Belgian defender’s future has been the subject of quite a bit of speculation with the side missing out on Champions League football, and the report indicates that he would have left the club had Tim Sherwood remained as Head Coach.

That same report has said that if favourite to replace Sherwood, Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino, is given the job at White Hart Lane then he will be expected to conduct all of his interviews in English.

Pochettino converses in press conferences and interviews in Spanish with the help of interpreter during his time at St Mary’s but uses English when he speaks to the players.

Sherwood’s assistants in Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey are to learn their fate at Tottenham very soon according to the London Evening Standard, as they were due to meet with club officials today.

It seems as though Ferdinand will be leaving the club but Ramsey may be offered the chance to stay at White Hart Lane in some capacity.

Whoever takes charge of Tottenham will face Celtic in a friendly in Helsinki at the start of August, it has been announced.
