Liverpool morning news, Suarez speculation, Sevilla defender targeted, up to 12 players could leave

A selection of the key stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Thursday morning.

It’s that time of year again where Luis Suarez has been linked with an approach from Real Madrid of around £70m.

A report appeared in Spanish outlet El Confidential yesterday that the Champions League finalists are preparing a move for the Uruguayan striker, and the Daily Mirror has published something similar this morning.

But at an event for 888 poker in Spain yesterday, Suarez said he had no knowledge of a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Liverpool Echo has reported that Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno tops Brendan Rodgers’ wish list when it comes to buying a new left-back, with the 21-year-old likely to cost in excess of £15m.

Moreno was in action during the La Liga’s side Europa League success over Benfica on penalties in Turin last night.

The report also says that Rodgers is in the market for a centre-back and that Cardiff City’s Steven Caulker is one of a number under consideration.

The Liverpool manager is also preparing for a clear out at Anfield this summer with up to 12 players potentially on the move according to The Guardian.

The club is open to offers for several players who have spent the season on loan from the club elsewhere including Pepe Reina and Fabio Borini.

Loan signings Aly Cissokho and Victor Moses will not be retained whilst Tiago Ilori could spend another season on loan, and Luis Alberto may also have a spell on loan away from Anfield after failing to make an impact in his first season. Kolo Toure’s future is also under scrutiny, whilst Iago Aspas looks set to move on.
