Chelsea set to swap Luiz for £24.5m plus Mandzukic, with big agent brokering - report

Mario Mandzukic Bayern

German press claims Jose Mourinho is happy to lose David Luiz IF Mario Mandzukic forms part of any deal.

Earlier this week it was reported that Chelsea had agreed a deal to bring £32 million striker Diego Costa to the club from Atletico Madrid. The Blues are desperate for striking options, with Demba Ba and Fernando Torres not performing to the level Jose Mourinho wants and Samuel Eto'o now leaving the club in rather acrimonious fashion.

But Costa is reportedly only one striker that they want to sign, with another being lined up.

Plenty of candidates are doing the rounds in the rumour mill but today German press believe they know who the man is - Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian international is said to be unhappy at the thought of impending Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski taking his place in the Bayern line-up. #he has also been linked with a move back to former club VfL Wolfsburg as well as Arsenal in recent months, but Mourinho is said to be a fan and is keen on striking up a deal.

A deal, which according to the German press, will also a big star departing for Munich in the form of Brazilian international David Luiz.

Jose Mourinho is said to be unsure of Luiz's defensive abilities while Pep Guardiola has been a long time fan of the player, reportedly showing interest in him when Barcelona manager.

The deal is said to be worth around £24.5 million plus Mandzukic to Chelsea, who would be very tempted by those figures to gamble on letting Luiz, a player highly rated around the world, join up with international team-mate Dante in Germany.

The report claims that Roman Abramovich has a specialist brokering the deal in the form of Vlado Lemic. The Serbian football agent has previously brokered deals for Chelsea which saw Arjen Robben, Mateja Kezman and Branislav Ivanovic all arrive at Stamford Bridge - he also was the middle man between Tottenham and Real Madrid when Luka Modric headed to Spain.

For now it is just a rumour but it is certainly one to watch out for in the coming weeks, as David Luiz's future looks less secure than ever at Chelsea.
