Luis Alberto spent last season on loan at Barcelona B and impressed sufficiently to earn himself a £6.8 million move to Liverpool this summer. But last night, the team he left for Liverpool made him a very happy man on Twitter.
Sevilla, who only qualified for the competition after Malaga and Rayo Vallecano got thrown out because of financial irregularities, beat the favourites Benfica on penalties to win the Europa League in a tense finale.
Sevilla, who have British based loanees in the form of Reading's Daniel Carrico, QPR's Stephane M'Bia and Chelsea's Marko Marin, are not only his former club but they are also his favourite club - so there is little wonder he was so happy with their dramatic victory.
They have not done it the easy way, defeating Valencia and Real Betis in dramatic fashion to even make it to the final - games which Alberto also celebrated on the popular social networking site.
It has not been a dream debut season at Anfield for the player but at least he has watched his beloved Sevilla have a season to remember.
