Manchester City did not just take home a shiny trophy as a result of their Premier League success. According to a report in the Guardian they also earned £96.5million last season.

That figure came about as a result of the league’s £5.5bn broadcast deal, with second-placed Liverpool leading the way with £97.5million.

So now another season is over, it will be interesting to see just how much money City spend this summer, and if they match their considerable outlay from the last close-season.

One player who arrived then was Stevan Jovetic, but he could be on his way already according to Talk Sport.

The Montenegro international did not have the best of debut campaigns, after it was blighted by injury and his failure to force the likes of Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero out of the starting line-up.

It is now being claimed Rafa Benitez’s Napoli are interested in bringing him back to Italy, with City likely to want to recoup the fee they paid last summer.

And finally, England manager Roy Hodgson has praised City goalkeeper Joe Hart in an interview with the FA’s official website.

“He’s definitely one of the best there is and we are delighted to have him,” Hodgson said.

“He’s had a very good season and he’s going into the World Cup full of confidence. Hopefully we can profit from that.”
