Goldman all a-Twitter over rising star loss

Goldman Sachs Blink

At Goldman Sachs, Anthony J. Noto has won some big-name business, including leading the initial public offering of Twitter last year.

The New York Times reports that he has also worked on smaller deals, guiding Goldman’s own investments in high-flying technology start-ups like Spotify and Dropbox.

But on Tuesday, Noto announced he was making a full-time switch from adviser to investor.

Noto, who at 46 was Goldman’s global co-head of technology, media and telecommunications banking, plans to join Coatue Management as a senior managing director, where he will help the hedge fund make inroads among hot start-ups.

His departure is a blow to Goldman. Noto, a former Army Ranger who became a trusted banker for technology titans, was viewed as one of the firm’s rising stars.
