Daniel Sturridge’s promise to Liverpool fans

Daniel Sturridge Liverpool

The England international has assured the Reds supporters that he will do all he can to win the Premier League title next season.

Daniel Sturridge has been one of the stars of the 2013-14 Premier League season. The 24-year-old scored no fewer than 21 goals and provided seven assists, as Liverpool finished just two points behind eventual champions Manchester City in second place.

It was a remarkable campaign for the Reds, and one which could have ended in title triumph had the Citizens lost to West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. However, that was not to be and the Merseyside outfit were left waiting for their first championship success in the Premier League era.

Next season Liverpool will face with new challenges. Manchester City will be the favourites to win the title again, Chelsea will be a stronger side, Arsenal will once more be contenders, Manchester United will bounce back (or at least try to) and even Tottenham Hotspur could give it a go.

The competition will increase, and so will the number of matches: Brendan Rodgers’ side will participate in the Champions League. Although that will be an adventure in itself, it will mean extra matches and the squad will be stretched.

However, Sturridge has assured the Liverpool fans that he and his teammates will take heart from their disappointing 2013-14 campaign and will go all out once again next season in their quest to end their Premier League title drought.

‘I apologise for not winning the Premier League for you guys’, the England international told the club’s official website. ‘I'll do everything in my power, just like my teammates will, to ensure that we do that for you next season... We'll take the positives out of this season and we'll learn from the negatives, that's what's important’.
