Alejandro Sabella has named a 30-man squad for the upcoming World Cup, with three Manchester City players featuring despite one former star's absence.

Argentina squad

Goalkeepers: Sergio Romero, Mariano Andújar, Agustín Orion.

Defenders: Ezequiel Garay, Federico Fernández, Pablo Zabaleta, Marcos Rojo, José María Basanta, Hugo Campagaro, Nicolás Otamendi, Martín Demichelis, Gabriel Mercado, Lisandro López.

Midfielders: Fernando Gago, Lucas Biglia, Javier Mascherano, Ever Banega, Angel Di María, Maximiliano Rodríguez, Ricardo Alvarez, Augusto Fernández, Enzo Pérez, José Sosa, Fabian Rinaudo.

Forwards: Sergio Aguero, Lionel Messi, Gonzalo Higuaín, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Rodrigo Palacio, Franco Di Santo.

One of the favourites for the tournament, Argentina boss Alejandro Sabella has been able to pick a strong preliminary squad full of outstanding attacking talent that includes Manchester City star Sergio Aguero and Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

It's a squad able to ignore players of the calibre of Carlos Tevez, Javier Pastore and Erik Lamela, to name but a few, though somewhat strangely, Sabella has found a place for former Chelsea reject Franco Di Santo.

Otherwise the team is as predicted, with further City players Pablo Zabaleta and Martin Demichelis selected alongside Premier League transfer targets Angel Di Maria, Marcos Rojo and Ezequiel Garay.

Sabella will have to streamline his squad by the June 2nd deadline, with 7 players set to miss out.

Argentina kick off their World Cup against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 15th, looking to win their first title since 1986.
