The season is over, which means football fans all over the country will be looking towards play-off drama, the Champions League final and then the World Cup for their talking points.
There has been plenty going on since the close of the season last weekend as Manchester United and Chelsea close in on transfer deals, while United have decided another great defender will leave them this summer in the form of Rio Ferdinand.
We’ve taken a look back to the stories that were grabbing the headlines on this day last year.
‘Monaco offer prompts Falcao U-turn’
Chelsea were thought to be in pole position to sign Radamel Falcao from Atletico Madrid, before Monaco submitted an offer which changed the situation.
Monaco submitted a deal which included an £8.5 million per year salary package for the Colombian after tax.
Jose Mourinho reportedly made Falcao his top priority last summer as he returned for a second spell in charge of the club.
‘Wenger refuses to comment on Rooney rumours’
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger refused to comment on rumours his club could be ready to try and sign Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.
Rooney was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal last summer after he handed in a transfer request to the Old Trafford club.
Nothing ever came of the rumours, with Arsenal making two bids to Liverpool to try and sign Luis Suarez.
“Look, I'm not in a position today to speak about any transfer targets. What I am focused on is the short term,” said Wenger.
The striker refused to talk to fans as he got onto the United team bus for the celebrations, jeered by supporters as the vehicle went around the city showing off the trophy.
Rooney took a seat on the opposite side of the bus to Sir Alex Ferguson.
