Moroccan wonderkid: Why I snubbed Arsenal

Emirates Stadium

Talented Moroccan youngster Nabil Jaadi chose to join Udinese rather than Arsenal and has explained why he thinks it's the best move.

Nabil Jaadi is seen as a huge talent for the future and was strongly tipped to leave Anderlecht for Arsenal, but he felt Udinese would be a better destination for him.

The 17-year-old winger has played at youth level for Belgium and Morocco and has impressed in the UEFA Youth League

Jaadi also put in some decent performances in the Under-17 World Cup, which brought him to the attention of several big European sides.

Arsenal had appeared to be favourite to step in and sign Jaadi this summer, but he confirmed via his Facebook page that he had chosen to sign for Serie A side Udinese.

Udinese have a strong reputation for developing talent and tend to sell players on to bigger clubs once they become stars, so Jaadi will be another starlet to nurture.

"Italy was the best choice as here they do a good job with young players," Jaadi explained to Tuttoudinese.it.

"If I had signed with Arsenal I wouldn't have been guaranteed to play in the first team squad.

"In Udine I will get to play alongside great champions and I can improve a lot.

"I don't have a specific role model in football but I love the speed and technique of Lionel Messi. I will do everything I can to earn my place at Udinese and repay the faith the club has shown in me."
