All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…
The Daily Star has picked up on a story in Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport which claims the Serie A club want to sign either Negredo or Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado this summer.
The City man – who enjoyed an impressive first spell at the Etihad stadium despite the majority of his goals coming in the first half of the campaign – is said to be Inter’s first choice, with Soldado second on their list.
It is unlikely Manuel Pellegrini will sanction the sale of Negredo even though he does have Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Stevan Jovetic to call on.
The Chilean has seen this season that injuries can take their toll and he will need four front-men considering the many challenges to come in the new campaign, including another assault on the Champions League.
“We need to challenge the youngsters,” the Frenchman said. “They need experience to play what I call man’s football.”
Vieira is an integral part of City’s EDS set-up, and you can be sure he would love to see those under his stewardship given chances to compete at B level in the future.
