Liverpool left-back solution, wanted by Chelsea, talks up Real Madrid move

Ricardo Rodriguez

Ricardo Rodriguez has admitted that he is glad to be linked with a move to the Spanish giants.

Three of the Premier League’s top sides are all seemingly in the market for a new left-back this summer, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool all needing reinforcements in this area.

While the Old Trafford outfit is seemingly pushing on with a move for Luke Shaw, the other two will be weighing up potential targets to add before next term.

Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez has had an excellent season in the Bundesliga and has been repeatedly linked with both the Reds and Blues over recent months of transfer speculation.

However, with Real Madrid thought to be ready to make a move for the Switzerland international, the signs are there that the defender would prefer a switch to the Spanish capital.

When asked about the building interest from Carlo Ancelotti’s men, Rodriguez admitted he was glad that Madrid were a club being linked with a move for him.

"I leave my future open,” the 21-year-old told WAZ.

“Let's play in the Europa League and we can be happy with that. But it's not the Champions League, and it is unfortunate that we have not achieved this.

"I enjoy playing for Wolfsburg, but it's good to know that these clubs are interested in me.”

Rodriguez will be given another chance to showcase his ability at this summer’s World Cup, with speculation over his club future looking set to continue.

The defender started all 34 Bundesliga games for Wolfsburg this season and showed excellent ability to get forward, creating goals and scoring five himself.
