Kyle Walker has suffered with injury recently and Roy Hodgson has reportedly left him out.
The fact Everton rested John Stones and Ross Barkley today gave away an immediate hint that they were involved in some way. Then there is Ashley Cole. He has made it very clear that Hodgson left him out of action by Tweeting his international retirement.
In fact Hodgson has now stated that leaving Cole out, presumably for Southampton teenager Luke Shaw, 'one of the hardest decisions of my career.'
And it seems it was not his only tough decision, as Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker is also set to miss the cut, according to Sky Sports:
Sky Sources: Tottenham's Kyle Walker has been told he hasn't been selected for England World Cup Squad. #SSN— Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) May 11, 2014
Spurs full-back Walker has been injured in recent weeks and before he picked up his fitness concerns he has also been in poor form this campaign.
The rumours suggest that Glen Johnson will predictably be the number one choice and Phil Jones and Chris Smalling will cover at right-back if need be. Meanwhile Stones and Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan will reportedly be on the standby list..
For Walker, if the reports do turn out to be true, it would be a real blow considering the progression he has made on an international level under Hodgson.
