Arsenal fans react to Jenkinson performance: 'Always thought he'd be the next Bale'

Arsenal may be about to lose one right-back in Bacary Sagna, but another - Carl Jenkinson - had a game to remember against Norwich City.

It may have been an end-of-season affair with little to play for, but the way Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson celebrated his goal against Norwich City, you would think he had just won the World Cup.

It was a sight to behold, an avid Gunner netting his first strike for the team he loves.  And it also raised questions as to whether or not Arsene Wenger needs to spend in order to replace Bacary Sagna, should the Frenchman leave this summer.

At 22, Jenkinson is no longer the young starlet that arrived at the Emirates.  He is of an age when he should be forcing his way into his manager's first-team plans.  And he made an emphatic statement against the Canaries.

Jenkinson not only did what was asked of him at the back, but he also scored the second in a 2-0 victory, netting with his only effort on goal.

In a defensive capacity, Jenkinson made three effective clearances, one interception and he was accurate with an impressive 47 of his 54 attempted passes.

Some Arsenal fans believe Jenkinson is most certainly not the answer if Sagna does leave at the end of his current contract.  While others feel the former Charlton Athletic player has the potential to become a very effective full-back.
