While we suspect this is a saga which will run all summer, Luis Suarez does not sound like a player planning on quitting Liverpool.
Speculation from Spain has agitated the player's situation, with controversial agent Francois Gallardo adamant a deal will be done.
Gallardo is dismissed by many as a fantasist, and Suarez' recent comments indicate he is not planning on moving on.
He told SkySports: ""For us, this is just the beginning of a positive era for the club.
"We have so many young people on the team with a bright future ahead. We achieved our goal of the season, reaching the Champions League and other triumphs will come soon. "
Suarez certainly does not sound like a player planning his next move, and speaks like a player who is excited to be at Liverpool, not just now, but for the future.
His near miss with the Premier League title is likely to only fuel his desire to stay, and finish what he started.
Walking away from a challenge which is not complete is not one which befits his determined personality which led to him winning Player of the Year honours.
The comments may be seen as a simple acknowledgement of Liverpool's progression, but tied into his new contract signed last summer, add up to a clear sign the Uruguayan wants to stay put - for another season at least, and enjoy Champions League football at Anfield.
