PHOTO: United fans hire plane to fly over Anfield with Gerrard message

Manchester United fans have reportedly hired the plane that flew over Anfield earlier today with a message for their fierce rivals Liverpool.

A plane that flew over Anfield on Sunday afternoon trailing the message 'United 20 - Gerrard 0' is believed to be the work of Manchester United fans.

It is not the first time a message delivered by plane has made headlines this season, with a group of United fans using that very medium to express their feelings towards then-manager David Moyes back in March.

But the latest stunt focuses on the fact that United have won considerably more Premier League titles than Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

And while it may have been premature to fly the plane over the ground when the Reds still had a chance to claim the title, the fact that Newcastle United scored the opening goal could prevent the United fans involved from being red-faced.

Still, it could be exactly the type of motivation Liverpool - and Gerrard in particular - need to beat the Magpies and hope Manchester City slip up at home to West Ham United.
