Sunday rumour mill: Arsenal line up surprising goalkeeper move

The Mirror states that the Gunners are ready to swoop for Cardiff custodian David Marshall this summer.

With Lukasz Fabianski looking increasingly likely to leave Arsenal on a free transfer this summer, the Gunners are likely to be in the market for a new goalkeeper.

Concerns over whether Wojciech Szczesny is the man to command the club’s last line of defence persist in some corners of the North London club’s support and as such increased competition for the Poland international is needed.

The Mirror has today stated that Arsene Wenger is eyeing up a move for Cardiff City stopper David Marshall.

The Welsh club has been relegated from the Premier League and as such a number of their players will be set to leave the Bluebirds and join top-flight sides.

The Scotland international goalkeeper has been one of the rare bright sparks in an otherwise dreary campaign for Cardiff, producing excellent individual displays and pulling out excellent saves on a nearly weekly basis.

The report says that the former Celtic stopper is seen as ideal competition for Szczesny, with the Gunners to launch a bid once the transfer market reopens.
