Manchester City win Premier League title

Manuel Pellegrini’s side won the league title with a comfortable home win over West Ham United.

Manchester City won the 2013-14 Premier League title with a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Ham United at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side finished the campaign with 86 points from 38 matches, two points clear of Liverpool.

This is the Citizens’ second league triumph in three years in the Chilean manager’s first season in charge.

City were always in control of the contest at the Etihad against their visitors from London and took the lead six minutes from the half-time interval.

It was Samir Nasri who broke the deadlock when he shot home from 20 yards past West Ham goalkeeper Adrian.

The Manchester outfit ascertained the win and the title triumph just four minutes into the second period through Vincent Kompany, who shot home from just yards out after Edin Dzeko had won the ball from a corner.

After the final whistle, there was a pitch invasion from the City fans, who rushed to congratulate their players on a successful season in which they have also won the League Cup.
