PHOTO: Vidic bleeds for the United cause one last time

Vidic

Nemanja Vidic didn't earn his reputation for no nonsense defending by letting a little bit of blood stop him.

Manchester United drew 1-1 today in a game of lasts against Southampton FC. It was likely Ryan Giggs' final game as interim manager of the club and it was of course Nemanja Vidic's final game of his Manchester United career.

Since he arrived in 2006 the player has earned a reputation for putting his body on the line for the cause. And even if it was his final game for the club he was not about to change now.

Vidic quite literally bled red for the cause today after being caught by an errant Rickie Lambert elbow during the 1-1 draw at St Marys Stadium.

Vidic is leaving the club this summer - his contract expiring he is moving on to pastures new with Inter Milan of Serie A, where he might get an easier run than he has recently in the ever improving Premier League.

But United fans will love the fact he was committed to the cause until the last minute of his United career and this picture truly sums up just how much of an idol he is at United.

The fans will surely wish him well in his Italian adventure.
