Legendary Brazil defender Cafu has met with Liverpool players ahead of this summer’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Cafu, who is Brazil’s most capped international player with 142 appearances, will watch Liverpool play Newcastle United in their final Premier League game at Anfield on Sunday, and could yet witness them win the title.
Liverpool sit second in the league, two points off Manchester City who play West Ham in their final match. Liverpool must secure all three points over Newcastle and hope that City lose to the Hammers in order to win the title. A draw for City would more than likely see them win back the title, as they hold a superior 13 goal-difference over the Reds.
Despite the outcome of Liverpool’s season on Sunday, the club are still likely to boast a number of players at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, including plenty in the England squad.
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson and Daniel Sturridge are almost certain to feature in Roy Hodgson’s plans, while 19-year-old Raheem Sterling will more than likely be involved after his impressive form this season. Defender Jon Flanagan, who has played at both right-back and left-back for Liverpool this season, is also in with a chance of travelling.
Brazil legend Cafu stopped for pictures with some of the Liverpool players, including fellow countryman Philippe Coutinho, who despite featuring heavily in Rodgers’ plans this season, was left out of Brazil’s World Cup squad by manager Luiz Felipe Scolari.
