Arsenal and Liverpool target Hakan Calhanoglu has been tipped to make a summer move to Bayern Munich.
Bundesliga expert and TV pundit Jan Aage Fjortoft has confirmed recent reports of Bayern’s interest in the Turk and has added weight to the rumour, suggesting it’s an example of Pep Guardiola building for the future.
Reports in Germany: HSV -YoungStar, Hakan Calhanoglu, could go to Bayern. Building for the future— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) May 10, 2014
The player couldn’t be blamed for leaving the top flight of German football after a disappointing campaign.
Hamburg finished in 16th place, which means they face a relegation play-off and potential disaster if they drop down to the second tier of the German game.
That will result in them having to sell off key players to ease their financial woes and Calhanoglu has been suggested as an attacking squad signing for both Arsene Wenger in North London and Brendan Rodgers in Merseyside.
However, should Bayern move for the player then they offer him the chance of virtually guaranteed success and the chance to stay in German football, where he’s created his modern reputation.
Calhanoglu will reportedly be available for a fee of around £7.5-8 million which makes him an attractive signing for any side interested.
