Reportedly a target of Tottenham Hotspur, and said to have recently held talks with Spurs, Jackson Martinez may instead be moving elsewhere.

Reports last weekend claimed Tottenham Hotspur had opened talks with representatives of Jackson Martinez regarding a possible £18million move.

And yet since then, rumours have persisted that the Colombian front-man will in fact be off to Italy this summer.

The FC Porto player has been heavily linked with Napoli, despite Tottenham reportedly keen to add a prolific marksman to their squad, and now Martinez’s agent has had his say.

In quotes published by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Henry Pompeo said, “Interest from Roma? It’s true. We’ll see what the best destination is, not in financial terms but for the future of the player.

“If he comes to Naples, he would be honoured to wear the shirt.”

Martinez has scored a phenomenal 59 club goals in the last two seasons, and he would have been an outstanding addition at White Hart Lane if he were able to replicate that form in the Premier League.

But as the reports of Serie A interest continue, with the player seemingly keen to end up in Naples, Spurs may have to look elsewhere as they seek to add some much-needed goals to their side.
