A select round-up of morning news relating to Liverpool...

Brendan Rodgers has been speaking about how he will approach Liverpool’s final game of the season against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.

In quotes published by the club’s official website, Rodgers said, “First and foremost we can only concentrate on our job. Our job is to win the game.

“For us, to get 16 wins out of 19 at the weekend would pencil in a great return for us at home.”

It will take an almighty slip-up from Manchester City to gift the Reds their first Premier League title, but as Rodgers said, all his side can do is win and see what happens elsewhere.

In other news, Jordan Henderson is reportedly on the verge of signing a new four-year contract at Anfield.

The Mirror reports that the former Sunderland midfielder has agreed in principle to commit his future to the Reds.

And finally, West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has said that “everyone would like to see Liverpool win (the title)” in quotes published by the Independent.

The Hammers go up against City on Sunday and could play a significant role in the destination of the league crown.
