Liverpool and Man United linked winger "might consider a step forward"

Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan has Premier League admirers and his agent has claimed a move could be on the cards this summer.

With Benfica having a massively successful season both domestically and on the continent, it is only natural that some of the Estadio da Luz outfit’s stars will be linked with a move elsewhere.

Although the likes of Rodrigo and Ezequiel Garay continually attract transfer rumours, talented Argentine winger Nicolas Gaitan is said to have been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs for months and years.

Initially a target for Manchester United, Liverpool have been the side most recently linked with a move for the South American attacker this summer.

Gaitan’s agent has been speaking out about his future and admitted that the player will consider his options at the end of the season.

“First, Benfica need to tell me that he can be sold, then we will see what happens,” Jose Iribarren told FC Inter News.

“What may be considered as a step forward for him we might consider.

“Now he is only thinking about the Europa League final, which would be a very important milestone for his career.”

The 26-year-old has played 26 league games this season, scoring seven goals and has also featured in Benfica’s run to the Europa League final.

Gaitan has been capped six times by Argentina but looks likely to miss out on a place at this summer’s World Cup.
