The top five players linked with signing for Liverpool this week: Muller, Cole and more

Cristian Tello

Bayern Munich, Southampton, Chelsea, Barcelona and QPR stars all feature.

Liverpool head into this weekend hoping that West Ham United can do them a favour as they fight to secure the Premier League title ahead of Manchester City.

It’s been a great season for the Merseyside club and Brendan Rodgers now has to improve the squad to ensure Liverpool can compete again next season, as well as competing in the Champions League.

Here are five of the best players linked with a move to Anfield over the past week.

Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)

It would be a real coup for Rodgers if he managed to secure the signing of the German international ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United. Muller is a versatile attacking player who can play as a number ten or as a false number nine, potentially providing SAS with a lot of support.

Adam Lallana (Southampton)

ESPN reported this morning that Liverpool have apparently made a £20 million bid to sign the England international. He’s a top quality player who could aid the Reds’ midfield in behind the combination of SAS but the Saints are likely to fight hard to hang onto him despite this report.

Ashley Cole (Chelsea)

Cole’s recent good form for Chelsea doesn’t seem to have stopped him from a Stamford Bridge exit this summer. However, Liverpool won’t be complaining because they can sign an experienced defender with plenty of domestic and international experience and it won’t cost them a penny.

Cristian Tello (Barcelona)

Liverpool could be the side to offer Tello a way out of his frustrating Barcelona career. They have a clear place for them in their side down the left hand side and he could be attracted by the immense brand of attacking football that Liverpool play. His pace, skill on the ball and creativity are some of his best traits.

Stephane Mbia (Queens Park Rangers)

Mbia has been in brilliant form for loan side Sevilla in the top flight of Spanish football. He looks destined to move away from Championship owners QPR this summer with Liverpool reportedly interested. He could add some real fight, grit and presence into the Liverpool midfield.
