The top five players linked with signing for Arsenal this week: Muller, Fabregas and more

Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Toulouse and Valencia stars all feature.

Arsene Wenger will be one of the busiest managers in the transfer market this summer, as he looks to improve all areas of his Arsenal squad with players needed in all positions.

Fortunately for Arsenal, they have a large cash reserve and are supported by more millionaires than any other club in English football so drawing on resources to fund big deals shouldn’t be a problem.

Here are five of the best players to be linked with Arsenal transfers this week.

Thomas Muller (Bayern Munich)

News at the start of this week suggested that Manchester United were interested in the German and now Arsenal are being strongly linked with him. He’d certainly be a top quality addition to their midfield and Wenger has very recent experience of watching his side play against him.

Javi Martinez (Bayern Munich)

A more realistic Bayern Munich signing could be Javi Martinez, a player Arsene Wenger has been watching as far back as his days with Athletic Bilbao. Martinez has made just 17 Bundesliga appearances this season and has also been used out of position in central defence. He’s rated at around £20 million.

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona)

Fabregas is always going to be linked with the Gunners because of his Arsenal past and the fact Wenger has first option on the Spaniard, should any side ever lodge an official bid to sign him from the Nou Camp. He still seems determined to replace Xavi in the Barca midfield but because of that clause, it’s always a possibility.

Serge Aurier (Toulouse)

TMW has suggested that finally, after a very long time of watching the versatile defender, the Gunners are about to make a move to sign him. Aurier is a natural replacement for Bacary Sagna, who is continuously linked with an Arsenal exit. Aurier is rated as one of the best talents in French football.

Adil Rami (Valencia)

Rami has been a long term target for Arsene Wenger and someone who could inject some bite and experience into the defence. SportWitness ran a report this morning which suggest Arsenal have already started talks for the player and are looking to sign him on a good value deal.
