This week has seen Bayern Munich star Javi Martinez’s future cast into doubt after he appeared to complain about life under Pep Guardiola at the Bundesliga champions:
“I don’t have as much freedom on the field anymore. I don’t get forward as often and my game is a little more static. The coach [Guardiola] believes that I can play in any of the central positions and I’ll play where I’m needed.”
But the picture above does not bode well for Arsenal.
Martinez has happily posted this picture of him in Bayern Munich’s new home kit for next season, which has seen the reintroduction of blue into the strip, a sure sign of his belief he will be wearing the uniform next term.
Martinez, who became an Arsenal target after Lars Bender ruled out such a move from Bayer Leverkusen, was always a far-fetched transfer target.
A quoted price of £20 million was never likely - considering Bayern splashed out €40 million to sign him from Athletic Bilbao just two years ago.
He may be unhappy at playing out of his favoured position, used mainly as a defender this term, but the fact remains he is still at one of the best teams in the world and judging by his PR stunt on Facebook this afternoon he will be wearing red, white and blue next season.
