Liverpool morning news, club to bid for Lallana, Lucas hoping for a favour from old friends

A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning

Liverpool are ready to make a bid for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana according to Sky Sports.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Englishman who was voted Southampton’s Player of the Year this season, and the report indicates that manager Brendan Rodgers would like to complete a deal for the 25-year-old before the England squad flies out to the World Cup in Brazil, which Lallana is expected to be part of.

Midfielder Lucas Leiva has admitted he will be texting Liverpool old-boy Andy Carroll for a favour, as Liverpool require Carroll’s West Ham to beat Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in order for the Reds to become champions on the final day of the season on Sunday.

The Brazilian is quoted in the Daily Mail, saying: “Will I be texting Andy? Yeah. They have been here with us, working with us and I’m sure they will do their best to get points for West Ham and help us. But it’s not in our hands.”

Stewart Downing and Joe Cole are also amongst the former Liverpool players part of the West Ham squad who the Reds will hope can do them a favour.

The Daily Express has an article about Italian striker Fabio Borini who is on loan at Sunderland, where he has maintained he would like to return to Anfield.

He’s quoted, saying: “Liverpool do need a bigger squad because you can’t play four competitions with the same 11 players. But it is now down to the Liverpool point of view and their sporting director. It is not down to my words.”
