Chelsea morning news: Blues dealt Cavani blow, Spurs pushing for Lukaku deal

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

PSG’s president has told Chelsea to forget about trying to sign Edinson Cavani this summer.

The Uruguayan front man has been linked with the Blues, should they fail in their attempts to sign Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.

“Cavani? He will stay here – he has a contract with us,” Paris Saint-German president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is quoted by the Metro.

The Metro has also suggested that Tottenham are ready to step up their pursuit if Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku remains linked with an exit from the club, as he mulls over his options ahead of next season.

Reports have suggested fees within the range of £15-20 million, with Spurs reportedly ready to make an initial offer of £15 million.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will plead with Thibaut Courtois not to push for a permanent exit from the club.

The Belgian has been on loan with Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons and has made it clear he doesn’t want to return to West London unless he’s number one.

With Petr Cech due to potentially miss pre-season, Mourinho could opt to make Courtois number one for the start of the season.
