All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

French defender Laurent Koscielny has agreed a new long-term contract at the club. The 28-year-old centre-back, who signed from French side Lorient in 2010, has been in great form at the heart of the Gunners defence alongside Per Mertesacker and rumours of his apparent contract have been circulating for quite some time.

But now pen has hit paper on an undisclosed ‘long term’ deal at the club.

Arsene Wenger said of the deal:

“Laurent has proven himself to be an outstanding player. I am delighted he has decided to commit his future to the Club.”

While Koscielny said:

“I am very proud to have reached agreement with the Club on a new contract. I have enjoyed four great years at Arsenal already, and I look forward to continuing to help the team in the years to come.”

Barcelona are believed to be chasing Arsenal target Javi Martinez.

The Bayern Munich star has recently cast doubt over his Bayern Munich future with comments on his lack of ‘freedom’ under Pepe Guardiola.

Barcelona see him as the perfect option to strengthen their squad in what is set to be a mini-rebuild at the Nou Camp this summer.

He is being linked with a £20 million move.

Arsenal are said to be ready to join the race to sign the seven-year-old son of former captain Robin van Persie - according to The Metro.

Shaqueel van Persie is currently training with Manchester City but Manchester United also want him to join their academy set-up.

However RVP is likely to keep his son playing football local to his current club.
