Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to play Aston Villa - Who does Sherwood trust for last game?

Match to be played on Sunday May 11 2014 at 15:00 GMT. Venue: White Hart Lane, Tottenham.

This could well be Tim Sherwood’s last game in charge of Tottenham Hotspur before he’s replaced in the summer so it’ll be interesting to see who he selects to face Aston Villa.

Spurs will be determined to make up for the poor 2-0 defeat away at West Ham United last weekend, as the boss will be looking to give the fans something to shout about on the last day of the season.

Here’s the side he could select.

GK – Hugo Lloris

Lloris was Tottenham’s stand out player against the Hammers and he’ll want to keep that good form up ahead of the World Cup.

RB – Kyle Naughton

With Kyle Walker out of action, Naughton should keep his place and he should be wary that his position could be under threat this summer.

CB – Michael Dawson

Dawson provides key experience and leadership in the back four. He’ll be determined that the defence holds out more effectively.

CB – Vlad Chiriches

Fortunately for Sherwood, he has a natural defensive replacement to call on in the form of Vlad Chiriches who will likely replace the suspended Younes Kaboul.

LB – Danny Rose

Rose should be determined to have 90 minutes of solid football, focusing on a solid defence and aiding the attack with extra width if Spurs get on top.

RM – Aaron Lennon

Lennon’s pace down the right hand side is a key asset in this game. He has the ability to keep the left-back pinned back, preventing the Newcastle back four from moving forward as a unit.

CM – Paulinho

Sherwood will likely use Paulinho’s Brazil World Cup inclusion to motivate the player ahead of this game, telling him to justify his place.

CM – Nabil Bentaleb

One change Sherwood could consider is bringing Bentaleb back into the starting side. He featured prominently when Sherwood first took over.

LM – Christian Eriksen

The Dane has been very effective from the left hand side. He doesn’t always stay there and gets into central positions when he can where he’s more effective.

ST – Emmanuel Adebayor

Adebayor should be looking for a big performance as he’ll be hoping to lead the attack next season.

ST – Harry Kane

Kane will also be looking for a big performance to put pressure on Sherwood over the summer or the boss coming in who will replace him.
