Predicted Chelsea XI to play Cardiff City - Mourinho to go all out or make changes?

Match to be played on Sunday May 11 2014 at 15:00 GMT. Venue: Cardiff City stadium, Cardiff.

Chelsea travel to Cardiff City this weekend in a match which could have been pivotal at both ends of the Premier League table.

However, Chelsea’s failure to win in their last game means that Jose Mourinho may find it difficult knowing how to approach this fixture; does he go with his best side or does he give some fringe players a chance?

Here’s the team he could go with.

GK – Mark Schwarzer

The Australian is likely to continue in goal after Petr Cech had surgery on an injured shoulder. He’s done well when he’s been called on to perform so far this season.

RB – Branislav Ivanovic

He’s been one of Mourinho’s most reliable players this season and should continue on the right hand side.

CB – Gary Cahill

This is a big game for Cahill who will want to impress and further his chances of starting in England’s defence for the World Cup.

CB – John Terry

Terry can use this occasion to further prove why he deserves another contract at the club he’s served for his whole career.

LB – Ashley Cole

Cole, similarly to Cahill, will be looking to impress ahead of the World Cup. There is real competition at left-back in the England side and Cole has the experience to be able to raise his game.

RM – Willian

Willian should slot in on the right after Mourinho blasted Mohamed Salah during the Norwich game. He’s got better as a wide player for the Blues as the season has progressed.

DM – David Luiz

Luiz could step into the team in front of the back four after Matic also received some criticism for the way he played against Norwich.

CM – Frank Lampard

Lampard guarantees that experience in the middle of the team and he’ll also be looking to improve his chances of another year at the club.

AM – Eden Hazard

Mourinho could use this game to move Hazard into a central attacking role. He’ll be fresh as he only played one half against Norwich.

LM – Andre Schurrle

Schurrle has been a solid player over the last six to eight weeks and should keep his place out on the left. He can switch flanks.

ST – Fernando Torres

Demba Ba failed to impress against Norwich so he could be replaced for this game. Torres should be determined to step in and play effectively in a summer which could see his position questioned.
