German website Kicker has suggested that Liverpool and Arsenal will go head-to-head to try and sign Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich this summer. The German midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, where Louis van Gaal is expected to be announced as Manchester United boss next week.
Everton coach Alan Stubbs has suggested the Toffees are under no pressure to sell Liverpool target Ross Barkley, who has also been linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea.
“The club are in a different position than we were five years ago, where we had to maybe sell one of the big stars,” he told the Alan Brazil show on talkSPORT.
Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling has paid tribute to the club’s SAS combination, as he assesses how he’s developed as a player at Anfield. Sterling has grown to become one of the side’s most important attacking players.
“To be able to sit back and learn from the boys, people like Dan and Luis, has been important. To improve my game, I needed to get into the box and score some goals and there are no two better players to learn from than them,” Sterling is quoted by the Express.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has suggested the manager of the season award should go to either Brendan Rodgers or Manuel Pellegrini. Rodgers has been tipped for the tribute by several of his peers after a positive season in charge at Anfield.
Luis Suarez has admitted that he wants to return to Dutch club Ajax before the end of his career. Liverpool bought the forward from the Eredivisie giants when Kenny Dalglish was in charge as manager.
“I've always said on one day I will return at Ajax. Even if the manager doesn't want me, I'll go. For sure,” he told Helden magazine.
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says striker Luis Suarez is the best player that he’s ever played with. The forward credits Gerrard with convincing him to stay at the club last summer.
“He is out there by a big distance as the best player I have played with and that is no disrespect to anyone else - there has been some top talent for club and country - but this fella can do the lot. He is different to most footballers,” Gerrard told the press.
Former Liverpool full-back Vegard Heggem has urged Rodgers to sign a top quality central midfielder this summer when the transfer window officially opens.
“I think we first and foremost need a top European-class player in central midfield. Brendan Rodgers has developed into a great and respected manager,” he told Sport Review.
