Injured Ronaldo risks missing Champions League final

Cristiano Ronaldo

Real Madrid face a nervous wait to find out how serious an injury to Cristiano Ronaldo is after he limped off against Real Valladolid.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in danger of missing the Champions League final after he was taken off after just eight minutes in Real Madrid's draw with Real Valladolid.

It was a grim evening for Real who were held to a 1-1 draw, leaving their title hopes in Spain looking very slim.

With just two games to play, Carlo Ancelotti's side now trail leaders and city rivals Atletico Madrid by four points and are one point behind Barcelona.

Real will also do battle with Atletico for European glory in the Champions League final on Saturday May 24, but they run the risk of doing so without Portuguese star Ronaldo.

Ronaldo reported a pain in his left leg during training on Tuesday but Ancelotti opted to risk him for the Real Valladolid clash.

That decision may have been unwise as the ex-Manchester United man was taken off after eight minutes at the Jose Zorilla Stadium despite displaying no apparent signs of pain.

Early indications about the injury are vague and it has been described as a 'muscle problem', but more details are likely to emerge soon.

Ronaldo is set to have tests today to ascertain the severity of the injury and he may need to sit out at least one of Real's two La Liga clashes to ensure he is fit for the European final.
